Chris Smythers has been with Merchants Grocery Company for over 30 years and is currently the President and CEO. He has long been active with CDA, currently serving on the Education & Research Committee, the Convenience Distribution® Editorial Advisory Council, and the Emerging Products Task Force, and having previously served for many years on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Chris is also a member of the Board of Directors serving as the first vice president for the Southern Association of Wholesale Distributors and serves on their Special Projects Committee.

Chris graduated from VCU with a bachelor’s degree. He has also participated in many industry training programs to include AWMA Project Leadership, the Bantle Institute, and AWMA Executive Strategies & Profitability Program at Wharton.
