Senate Comes Back Into Session

The Senate returned from its brief recess this week. The chamber is expected to begin debate on another spending package, which would bundle funding for the Departments of Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. While the $854.3 billion package will not be voted on this week, it is expected to pass with strong bipartisan support, with Senate leaders working to prevent divisive amendments, which could derail the bill from being considered by either side. The House of Representatives will reconvene on Sept. 4.
