Senators Reintroduce Legislation to End Federal Ban of Marijuana

On July 16, 2026, a group of Democratic Senators reintroduced the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA), comprehensive legislation that would end federal prohibition of cannabis by removing cannabis from the list of federally controlled substances and empowering states to create their own laws.
