Gasoline Tax Holiday Bill Planned by House Republican

Reporters announced on May 13, 2026, that Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) plans to introduce legislation that would provide a 90-day suspension of the federal gas tax, and give President Trump discretion for up to an additional 125 days. The announcement follows calls by several Republicans that are open to considering a temporary federal gas tax holiday to bring down gas prices. Read more here.
