Makary Resigns as FDA Commissioner, Diamantas Steps in to Acting Role

Dr. Marty Makary has reportedly resigned from his role as commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 12, 2026, according to numerous news outlets. Kyle Diamantas was named acting commissioner of the FDA and most recently served as the agency's deputy commissioner for human foods. Read more here.
