House Committee Holds Hearing on Slate of FDA Bills Aimed at Reforming Food Regulations

On April 29, 2026, the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health held a hearing titled, “Healthier America: Legislative Proposals on the Regulation and Oversight of Food.” During the hearing, Committee Members and witnesses discussed 28 pieces of legislation related to food production and food safety. The proposals span several key areas, including updates to the generally recognized as safe (GRAS) framework, infant formula and baby food safety, food labeling and consumer transparency, and oversight of food chemicals and dietary supplements.
