USPTO Updates Rules on Trademarks for Hemp and CBD Products

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) recently issued guidance which states that companies may register their marks for CBD products derived from hemp after Dec. 20, 2018, when the Farm Bill was passed. However, registration for marks for foods, beverages, dietary supplements or pet treats containing CBD will still be refused as unlawful under the Federal Food Drug & Cosmetic Act. More Information.
