Republican Retirement Announcements Continue
In the last week alone, five Republican House members have announced their intent to retire from Congress when the 116th Congress ends, including a member of House Leadership and members from hard-won swing districts. Life in the minority is new for many of these members, and diminished power and an inability to forge the Congressional agenda has left some members wondering if it’s worth it. As members are home with their families and friends over the Congressional recess, it’s likely there will be more announcements in the coming weeks.
