Bill to Amend PACT Act Introduced in Senate

Late last week, Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Diane Feinstein (D-CA) introduced S. 1253, a bill to prevent online sales of e-cigarettes to children. The bill will require the following:

  • Verify the age of customers for all purchases.
  • Require an adult with ID to be present for delivery.
  • Label shipping packages to show they contain tobacco products.
  • Comply with all state and local tobacco tax requirements.

CDA supports this bipartisan effort to expand current regulations of online sale of tobacco products to e-cigarettes, and we will be lobbying in support of this bill during our upcoming Day on the Hill.
