Congress Temporarily Averts Government Shutdown

On Monday, Congressional leaders reached a deal to avert a partial government shutdown via a two week stopgap measure to fund the government from Dec. 7 to Dec. 21. While this deal gives Congress more time to negotiate a final deal to fund a number of government agencies in fiscal year 2019 (including the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Homeland Security, Interior, Justice, and the Treasury), little progress has been made on resolving the stalemate over funds for a border wall with Mexico.
