Senate August Recess Cancelled

Yesterday, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that he was cancelling the Senate’s annual August recess. Senators will be able to return to their home states for the first week of August, but then will return to Washington for the rest of the month. The move is widely seen as a way to keep vulnerable, red state Democratic senators off the campaign trail.

It is likely that Senate Republicans will use most of August to approve judicial appointments. However, there may be opportunities to advance legislation critical to our members. CDA will work to take advantage of any opportunities that this additional time creates.
