Conservatives Leaning Towards Supporting House Farm Bill

Media reports indicate that House conservatives, who had yet to signal their support for the ag and nutrition authorization package, are coming around to supporting the 2018 Farm Bill. Despite misgivings about spending levels in the bill, House Agriculture Chairman Mike Conaway signaled a willingness to work with this key group of Republicans to garner their support. Issues remain however, as stricter SNAP work requirements that would help conservatives to support the bill are making it more difficult for moderate Republicans and Democrats to vote for the bill. The Chairman is shooting to have the 2018 farm bill in the House floor next week.
