Cole-Bishop Language Included in Bill Passes House, Will Not See Senate

Last week, the House passed an omnibus spending bill that included the Cole-Bishop language, but the Senate will not take up the bill. We are gratified that one of the two houses has seen fit to pass the bill in the context of a larger spending package, but the bill contains too many poison pills for Senate Democrats to vote in favor of it.

The bill, known as the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act (H.R.3354), is made up of 12 appropriations bills, including the Agriculture, Rural Development, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which passed the House by a vote of 211-198.
