Tax Reform Talk

Members of Congress continue to discuss tax reform in broad strokes without concrete details. Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) has promised to release an outline of the plan on Sept. 25, and Senate Finance Committee members are suggesting that their plan need not be revenue neutral. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) said, "I don't think we should put ourselves in a box that says that tax reform has to score as revenue-neutral. I think if we do that, the danger is we will never be able to produce really pro-growth tax reform." CDA members have indicated that tax reform is a priority issue and the association’s government affairs will remain fully engaged as tax reform moves forward.

A provision CDA members are looking for in the bill is a repeal of the estate tax, and the association is proud to be among 150 organizations that signed a letter in support of estate tax repeal, led by the Family Business Coalition.
