COVID Stimulus Package Update

Frustrations within the Democratic Majority of the House continue, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has told her caucus that the House will not adjourn before they consider a COVID bill. The Problem Solvers Caucus, a bipartisan group of centrist Members of Congress, released their own relief proposal, a nearly $2 trillion plan including a second round of stimulus checks, unemployment aid and small business loans lasting through spring of 2021. The proposal also includes new spending of $500 billion for state and local governments, $15 billion for the US Postal Service, and $400 million for election service. At this stage, passage of any new COVID relief legislation before Congress adjourns for the election seems unlikely.
