Congress Passes Partial Spending Package While Immigration Talks Continue

Congress passed a bipartisan appropriations spending package on Feb. 3, 2026, that funds most federal agencies through the end of the fiscal year in September, ending a partial shutdown that began Jan. 31, 2026. Funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), however, was extended only through next week, with a deadline of Feb. 13, 2026, to reach an agreement.
