Senate Advances HHS Leadership Nominations

On May 15, 2025, Senate Finance Committee members voted to advance two top officials nominated by President Donald Trump for the Health and Human Services Department. James O’Neill, who senators advanced in a 14-13 vote, would serve as number two at the department currently headed by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Gary Andres, who advanced in a 19-8 vote, would serve as assistant secretary.
