Rules Change to Move Forward on Voting Rights Fails in Senate
On Wednesday evening, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
proceeded with a vote
to change the filibuster rules, which would have allowed Voting Rights legislation to pass with a simple majority vote. The vote failed 52-48, with Democratic Senators Manchin and Sinema joining the Republicans to defeat the measure. The vote came on the one year anniversary of President Biden’s inauguration and followed an
impassioned plea
from the President earlier in the week.
