Energy and Commerce Subcommittee Holds Cannabis Hearing

Last week, the Subcommittee on Health of the Committee on Energy and Commerce held a hearing entitled, "Cannabis Policies for the New Decade." For key documents, witness testimony and a webcast of the hearing, visit the Committee's website. Committee members and administration officials discussed six bills offered by both Democrats and Republicans proposing various policy changes such as rescheduling or de-scheduling marijuana, providing a safe harbor for patients and veterans who use medical marijuana, and streamlining cannabis research processes. During the hearing, Subcommittee Chair Anna Eshoo (D-CA) said the Committee will have a follow up hearing with non-agency stakeholders on this issue.
