CDA member Republic Tobacco made a statement last week on its continued efforts to fight counterfeiters of their products, most notably of TOP® and JOB® brand cigarette papers. The company is working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement authorities to prosecute criminally and punish those who knowingly traffic in counterfeit cigarette papers. On May 14 in DeKalb Country, GA, local law enforcement executed search warrants on three wholesalers and retailers who were allegedly trafficking in counterfeit goods. The company is also pursuing civil action against alleged counterfeiters in various cases across the country, and will continue strong efforts to protect their brands.
