Deal Reached on Farm Bill

While the final text has not yet been made available, Congressional leaders announced that they have reached an agreement on the Farm Bill. The bill authorizes funding for a number of agriculture, forestry, and nutrition programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The final bill will not include controversial provisions which would have instituted stricter work requirements on SNAP recipients. The legislation will also not include language to limit the types of food that may be purchased with SNAP benefits nor any limitations on the type of retailer that can accept SNAP.
