JUUL Ceasing Sale of Some Flavored Product at Retail

In an announcement on Tuesday, CDA member JUUL Labs has stopped selling JUUL pods containing the flavors of mango, crème, fruit and cucumber to the over 90,000 retail stores that sell JUUL products. Sales of these flavored products will continue online however, with those sales restricted only to adults over the age of 21 with a cap on quantities.

The JUUL ordering site has a third party verification process (with additional online protections to launch by year’s end) to ensure only those of age can buy online, and will also restrict online sales per account to two devices and fifteen JUUL pod packages per month. The company will only restart retail sales of these flavored varieties once retailers can comply with JUUL’s new 21+ restricted distribution system, which includes the implementation of special technology to identify restricted product, verify age and cap sale quantity. Additionally, the company will begin other programs online, on social media and at retail to prevent the sale of JUUL products to underage consumers. For the full details, see the company’s full release.
