Government Announces Plan for Teenage Drivers to Drive Big Rigs, Ease Supply Chain Shortage

As part of the infrastructure law passed in November, the administration has announced a pilot program allowing 18-20 year old truckers to drive outside of their home states. CDA supported this important change to address the ongoing driver shortage, which has added to the supply chain backlogs. Current estimates indicate that the nation is over 80,000 drivers short of the number it needs, as demand reaches historic highs.
