FDA Nominee Faces Questions from Senate Committee at Nomination Hearing

On Wednesday, the President’s nominee to head the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Dr. Stephen Hahn, faced tough questions from members of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee at his nomination hearing. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), the committee’s most senior Democrat, pressed Dr. Hahn on the agency's lack of action on vaping in the wake of increased youth usage and illnesses. Sen. Murray has said she also has concerns about Dr. Hanh’s lack of government and management experience. In spite of the minority’s concerns, Dr. Hanh is expected to be confirmed.
