Another Instance of Tax-Driven Cigarette Smuggling in Virginia

A suspected cigarette smuggler was stopped March 30 in Frederick County, VA, for an improper lane change. The officer said he noticed seven large duffel bags in the car and was told they had boxing equipment in them.

The bags actually contained 217 cartons of cigarettes purchased in Georgia that were to be resold in New York, according to documents seized from the car, where the suspected smuggler stood to more than double his money. The Winchester Star.
